Design Influencers Spotlight #1

Design Influencers Spotlight #1

I regularly look for new artists to follow, and I think it’s important to share talented people! Keeping up with artists who are active is one of the most motivating activities around for me.

Below are some artists that create awesome work!

They create adorable patterns (among many other things) that are available on a huge variety of products. They’ve worked with some awesome clients like Naughty Dog, creating an illustration for The Last of Us, and created a limited edition screen print for the Mass Effect series for Bioware.

Rachel has a unique creative style – that she describes as “minimal, clean, colorful and playful.” She also creates absolutely adorable ceramic pieces including: planters, vases, and hanging pots. The pieces featured in the shop are a cute way to be outwardly empowering and positive. If you decide to get anything riotcakes, you can rest easy knowing that you’re supporting an independent artist with a noble cause.

Ashanti Fortson is an illustrator and cartoonist who mainly works in sci-fi fantasy. Though they’re taking a short hiatus, they have a webcomic that usually gets updated every other Wednesday called Galanthus. Galanthus is a space fantasy comic that follows farah, a human girl on her escapades. You can check it out here. They’re a full-time student, with a part time job so showing your support is a great way to help a student.

Kate Moross is an illustrator, art director, director and designer. They’re an incredible multitasker, who works on music videos, textiles, murals, fashion magazines (and a bunch more), and also runs studio Moross. They knows how to make an impact in the world because they’re not afraid to stand up for what they believes is right. Kate’s amazing work has led them to be highly sought after for collaborative pieces, but they still leave enough time to have their own solo shows, thus proving that they are actually magic.

Learning about new creators and how they work gives me a good kickstart to get moving on my own work. I hope this does the same for you!
